Getting Ranked on Google – The Wrong Question

Would you like to get to the top of Google? If you do…and I’m betting that you do…then you’ve probably asked yourself a series of questions. You might have asked:

* How do I get ranked on Google?
* How do I get on page 1 of Google?
* How do I get the #1 Ranking on Google?

Built into each of those questions is a particular assumption, and what you’re about to find out is that your assumption is actually limiting you. And on top of that, those are all the wrong questions.

So what is the right question?

How about…

How MANY listings on the first page of Google can I have?

You must be thinking, “How MANY??? What do you mean how many?”

Well that’s the assumption you are making: It’s not necessarily true that you can have only one listing on Google for a particular keyword. It’s entirely possible for you to get 2 listings, or 4, or maybe even 8 or 9.

Is 10 possible? Yes, actually.

Think, for a moment, about where you rank right now for your top keyword on Google. Page 2? Page 7? Page 17? Page 142?

Now what would that mean to you and your business if you had only 5 listings for your major keyword on Google’s first page?

You’d go from maybe 10 visitors a day to 1,000 a day. Or from 200 visitors a day to 50,000…Or maybe more. It really all depends on what business you are in, and how much traffic there is for your kind of business.

But the bottom line is that if you dominated page 1 of Google for your keywords, you would be flooded with traffic. Well frankly, that is what you can do if you properly use Web 2.0 technology in your internet marketing strategy.

And in a nutshell, here is how it works.

Google loves Web 2.0 websites. They tend to be large, filled with user-generated content, and therefore they are constantly growing with up to the minute new information. That’s *exactly* the kind of site that Google likes.
So, Web 2.0 websites are usually ranked very high.

But if you know anything about SEO, you know that there are two parts to it. First, it’s the content, on both your page and your site. Second, it’s the number of inbound links to your page and site.

So how do you get those inbound links?

The answer again is Web 2.0 websites.
